Historical Perspective on the 2012 Campaign

Today voters in Wisconsin, Maryland, and the District of Columbia(DC) will make their voices heard by voting in todays primary. I thought  now would be the perfect time for a little perspective on todays race.

There was a candidate that the media and the GOP Establishment called "Crazy, Extreme, Too, Conservative, and Unelectable". Sound Familiar? The candidate they were speaking of was California Governor Ronald Reagan. They didn't do this to Reagan  just once but twice. In 1976 when he ran against Ford, they said he was "too Exteme" "too Conservative" and "Unelectable" neither candidate achieved the magic number to become the nominee so they went to the convention with Reagan actually ahead in delegates, but the establishment would not accept Reagan as the nominee because he was "unlectable" so they brokered things and forced Ford on us since he was the "electable moderate". We all know what happened next in November the "electable moderate" lost to radical lefty Jimmy Carter. Then in 1980 Reagan ran again against George HW Bush and other moderate candidates. Do you think the GOP learned their lesson from 4 years previous? Of course not. Again they went on their crusade to halt Reagan because he was "unelectable", this time however Reagan won the nomination outright. The GOP Establishment was not happy, so they immediately set out to sabotage Reagan rather then get behind him they pushed an "electable" moderate Republican John Anderson to run as a 3rd Party candidate to split the vote and insure Carter's re election. Yes the GOP Elites actually preferred the Liberal/Socialist Carter to having the Conservative Reagan. We of course all know what happened in 1980 despite the odds Reagan won the election in one of the largest landlslides in history. Thats right the so called "unelectable" Reagan beat both the supposed "Electable" Moderate Anderson, and President Carter.  Conservatism WON overwhelmingly, maybe if they establishment had listened in 1976 we would have avoided the disasterous Carter years. Reagan went onto win a 2nd term in an even bigger landslide, his VP was given the benefit of the doubt in 1988 but turned out to be a moderate and lost re election. No matter how many times they have tried to run a moderate and fail, they never learn and keep trying. In 1992, '96, and 2008 they ran moderates who were supposed to be "electable" rather than more conservative options and every time they lost in the general election.

Flash Forward to the present and the 2012 GOP Presidential Primary and yet again the Establishment is shoving their "electable moderate" Mitt Romney down our throats, despite the huge conservative victory in the 2010 mid terms powered by the TEA Party and candidates deemed "unelectable" by the establishment and now they are co opting those same Tea Party Representatives and Senators and lining them up behind their guy.  It is eerie how similar this election is to 1980. We have an unpopular, failure of a President, the GOP Establishment ramming their "electable" moderate Romney and yet again they are calling the conservative in the race "crazy, too extreme, too conservative, and unelectable" saying this of course about Rick Santorum like they did of Reagan so many years ago. Only now in todays highly tense politics I have seen Rick referred to as a "Pro Life Statist"  whatever that is. and a "Chrisrian Fascist".  The truth is Rick Santorum is a Principled Conservative with Convictions and that scares the left and the Establishment, who want to preserve the status quo. Rick Santorum is very much Electable just as Reagan was, history has proven that it is the so called "electable" moderates that aren't actually electable. And it is Reagan that put it best "You can't expect to win with pale pastels but with Bold Colors" translation moderates don't win because they are pale imitations of the Left and Democrat lite doesn't beat the real thing. It takes stark and real contrast to win especially against an incumbant. Only one Republican has defeated an incumbanr Democrat in the last 100 years and it was that Bold Contrast the so called "Unelectable" Conservative Ronald Reagan in 1980. So this your choice do you want a Bob Dole or a Ronald Reagan to run against Obama? If you pick the latter then Vote for Rick Santorum 2012
